Accreditation is available only to the individual photographer.
It is not available to their business entity, or their employer or employees. It is the photographer themselves who is accredited, not the business entity through which they provide photographic services. The following photographers are covered by the scheme:
Self employed photographers
who deal directly with the customer who commissioned or bought the photographic work. This can be as a sole trader, partnership or through a business entity like a Pty Ltd company owned by the self employed photographer.
Employee photographers
who are paid a wage and are an employee of the photographic business providing the photographic work to the customers, and who have no ownership of the business providing the photographic work to the customer.
Contract photographers
who sell their services via their own business and create images for another photographic business which deals directly with the customer who commissioned the photographic work. (e.g. a second shooter at a wedding).
To be eligible to apply for accreditation you must:
- Be actively engaged as a self-employed photographer, employee photographer or contract photographer (as defined above).
- Be an ordinary member (not a student, retiree or Non-WA member) of Pro Photography WA Inc., and maintain that membership throughout the accreditation period.
- Agree to accept and abide by the Pro Photography WA Inc. Accredited Photographer’s Professional Code of Conduct.
In addition, the photographic business entity that the applicant works for, or via, must carry public liability insurance with a minimum limit of $10,000,000, and have a current ABN. The insurance and ABN must be maintained throughout the accreditation period.
