1. How did you start in photography?

I have always loved photos and photography growing up. I remember my year 9 teacher going around the class asking what we wanted to be when we grew up and my answer was a photographer. That same year my sister got married and I was in the wedding party. The photographer Vic was incredible, he was charismatic and made us all feel so amazing on the day. The energy created by him was intoxicating and that cemented it for me I was going to follow my dreams and become a photographer. I bought my first camera that year and have been shooting ever since.

2. What is your genre and how did you fall into that genre?

I am a portrait photographer and specialise in Family, Pets, and Boudoir/Nude photography. I have always loved people and being able to create images which capture the unique character of those people is so fulfilling for me. Every person is different and being able to be part of that person’s journey through photography fit so well with my values and who I was as a photographer. I have been shooting portraits ever since I can remember and have worked in a number of studios throughout my career.

3. What advice do you have for those starting out?

Shoot as much as you can – carry your camera with you always and shoot for the things that you love and inspire you

4. What has been one of the most memorable moments in your career so far?

Winning Nikon Sponsorship Award at the WA Photo Salon 2022 was so unexpected and appreciated this was a very memorable moment in my career. Also receiving runner up to 2019 AIPP Family Photographer of the Year and having my images displayed on the digital screen in Yagán Square was incredible.

5. Do you have a dream you are yet to fulfill in your photographic journey?

Travelling – I would love to take a year off and travel the world with my camera and photograph more lifestyle, people & places etc. This is something I have not done yet and would be more of a personal journey – hopefully leading to an exhibit in years to come or a book displaying of my images.

6. Tell us what you have got going on with your photography and/or business right now?

I work for an incredible studio in Midland called Zest Photography. We specialise in artistic portraits, empowering women and connecting families through photography. I have a team of incredible people who I get the chance to work with daily and really give back to our clients by giving back their confidence and healing through our photography experience. I am also starting to shoot more personal projects around the idea of Shibari which is the Art of Rope Tying and photographing it in an artistic way.
